After spending many years producing stage productions, fashion shows and even her own line of apparel, Chicago entrepreneur Elaine Gayle founded the Juvenesse line of skin care products over 20 years ago. The brand found an immediate and growing following in major department stores including Marshall Fields, Bloomindales and Carson Pirie Scott. As Elaine’s husband Joe began to experience a number of health setbacks, Elaine decided to take the product out of retail, concentrating distribution strictly through mail order. Unfortunately, Joe’s health has continued to decline through the years making it increasingly difficult to care for her husband and run the business. Ultimately, Elaine decided to look to seek a partner to help take the business to its next level. In stepped entrepreneur Jeannette Kravitz who was looking to purchase a business whose demographics would complement the target audience for her foundation, sponsorKIDS Charities.

What is the history of sponsorKIDS Charities and the Peace Journey? 2001 marked the beginning of sponsorKIDS Charities 501c3. Peace Journey Adventures( www.peacejourney.com) launched with their first official trip to Tanzania to build computer labs for a school there. Every since, the Peace Journey has taken teens on exciting trips around the globe, produced music concerts with bands like Little Feat and Ben Taylor, and build computer labs, trained students as journalist and created publishing and educational partnerships online and offline. Our United Nations of American Youth have been featured in a documentary; co-produced by Jeannette Kravitz which has currently been awarded a Silver Telly Cable Award of Excellence.

How does JEG product compare with the large skin care and cosmetic companies? JEG, as a small business is able to react very quickly to new and emerging technologies. We pride ourselves in our ability to be “ahead of the curve”. The fact that we do not have layers and layers of “management”, allow us to implement products and promotions quickly and efficiently.
